Every piece of written content, audio content, or video content on your membership website should always be about the main theme of your membership website, regardless of its theme. There’s nothing wrong with taking a few side trips into closely related fields, but even close subjects shouldn’t take the focus off of what your site is all about.
A theme you choose for your membership website is one that you have a lot of knowledge about and/or are passionate about (and hopefully still are).
It was not long ago that I saw a sign at a convenience store that said something like…we strive to always be kind, considerate, and helpful. When you are up to your ears in alligators, it is hard to remember that the main goal is to drain the swamp. That’s the case with membership website owners. When you have so many distractions to keep you from doing what you need to do to keep your website on the main theme, it can be hard to focus on your objectives.
It is important to maintain fresh, relevant, and timely content on your website regardless of how many distractions you have.
Be sure to fill your ezines and newsletters with valuable and helpful information. You need to keep your eye out for new products that would help your members. New products come out every day, so don’t let yourself get left behind.
Keep your members informed and focused on the objective by making full use of your autoresponder.
Blog, forum, and message board topics can quickly become unfocused and off-topic. You must monitor them daily…perhaps several times a day.
